DARLINK GIRRRL

Synopsis of a boring story I won't tell: I ordered a buttload of stuff on April 1st and I received everything approximately a week after ordering. Shipping was around three days, which is quite reasonable. Darling Girl is awesome.

You can visit my Flickr stream if you want to embiggen any of the images yes that's a technical term.

Left to right, top row: New Beginnings (GWP), My Little Pony, Enter Sandman, REM

Left to right, bottom: Purin, Deery Lou, Chococat

Here are the two eye candies:

I've named the purple-pink one 'Going Up' and the glittery one 'Rainbow Dinosaur Princess Barf'.

Free samples! The dark glitter is called Smoke and the greeny-blue shade is Garden of Weedin' from the spring collection.

Aw yeah, leeeeep products <3

Lip swatches, done in the same order as the hand swatches:

HOLY COW. If you've made it this far, you are a far stronger person than I. It took me a week to put this thing together.

Wicked Robot Chaos: the Infernal Takeover

Monday, Monday, MONDAY!
It's springtime, children, and that means it's time for spring colors. And you know what colors are SPRINGISH, yes?
ALL COLORS. All of them are springish. And summerish, and so on and suchlike.

I received my Darling Girl order last week on Thursday and I've started playing with the primer I purchased from that particular site. I wanted to try an indie-brand primer before replacing my old tube of Shadow Insurance; this way I can at least check out other stuff before deciding to buy one of those fancy new tubes of Primer Potion.

Fun fact: I've singing this song in my head while writing this post:

Unfortunately they don't have an official music video for this one.  I still love you, Ludo.  <3

Bewitched Silk Sheets? So Over It.

Because magicked silk sheets are so out of season.

Liek, for reals.

Inner 1/3 of lid + highlight:  SM Silk Sheets

Outer corner + crease:  SN Bewitched

For the rest of the weekend I will be in Arkansas for a chemical engineering conference, so I probably won't have any interesting makeup to post. When I get back I'll (hopefully) prepare my massive Darling Girl swatch post and just slap that baby up. Oooooyeah!

Concrete Minerals Swatches BAM POW

THAT'S RIGHT

I finally ordered more eyeshadow from somebody it's about damn time after seeing beautiful swatches at Silhouette Screams.  Blitzkrieg and Smut looked freaking stunning, and when I saw that the shop had a set  of four mini-pots for a schweet deal I could not reseeeest.

All swatches were done over TFSI.

Wicked:  slightly cool light purple base with strong blue-turquoise interference.  Powdered happiness.

Temptress:  beautiful rich teal with gold sparklies (barely visible in the photos, but noticeable in real life even without PE).  This would be so friggin pretty with Wicked.

Smut:  this one is an enigma. When I look at the photos I see a charcoal-taupe-cocoa base with strong pink interference.  It's not sparkly because the shimmer is too fine for that.

Blitzkrieg:  not quite as WHAM!golden in real life; this looks more like a hybrid of gold and a warm taupe.  I think this is made of powdered baby angels.

These are awesome.  They feel so smoove on my skin.  I especially want to roll in Blitzkrieg, unf.

ZOMG Smells: The Baron

Website description:
Rich, complex, and powerfully masculine, the Baron is a scent to wear when conquering towns and administrating with a practical-minded, questionably benevolent hand. Bergamot, lavender, and amber mellowed by spiced rum, bay leaf, and cedarwood.

Official Sniff Testing

Shortly after application this smelled very... manly.  OH SO MANRY.  At first it's quite smoky-musky-woodsy, with the amber, bergamot and bay leaf most prevalent.  After a half-hour the rum and lavender became more noticeable.  As the scent wore on the amber died down and the woodiness and lavender became stronger.  I would say that this 'officially' lasted around 5 hours (ie. it was noticeable without sticking my nose right up to my skin) but I could still smell it lingering on my wrists after around 8 hours.

Overall Impression

It felt kind of luxurious-dangerous wearing this, almost like I should be lounging on a yacht at a private beach while shooting robot sharks with a customized rocket launcher.

I have to admit that this is rather on the masculine side of the gender-scent spectrum (SEXIST MANGO IS SEXIST). I'd really like to convince Mr. Mango to try this one; it would probably be a better fit for him.

If I ever want to feel powerful, a tiny bit crazy and ridiculously rich I'll be wearing this.

ZOMG Smells: Pirate Queen (on duty)

Website description:
Can't burn the town? Mustn't burn the town? Even just a little tinybit? No? Well, phooey. A layer of sweetness and light just barely obscuring the urge to LOOT AND BURN AT WILL.

Maybe later?

Sticky, sugary kheer, golden raisins, and sandalwood incense over golden amber and khus.

Official Sniff Testing

Immediately after application the amber was very prominent, earthy and smoky over the slight sweetness of the kheer (which is apparently some sort of rice pudding), the hint of fruitiness (them raisins!) and woody-grassy khus.

After 1 hour the amber died down and the sandalwood incense was more noticeable.  The sweetness and the woody scents were also a bit stronger, and the raisin scent was about the same level of intensity.  **This does NOT smell like the little packages of normal black raisins.  To me those smell sickly sweet, almost overpoweringly sugary.  Golden raisins smell a lot more mellow to me, probably because fresh white grapes aren't as sweet as Flame grapes, the kind used to make "normal" raisins.

After the scents dried down there was very little change (aside from the total fading).  The scent was easily noticeable for about 5 hours.

Overall Impression

This is a much friendlier version of the Pirate Queen (off duty) scent I tried earlier this (last?) week.  Smoky sexiness for people who are nervous around smoky scents.  I don't particularly love this scent, but I do like it.

Just to reiterate:  the raisins will NOT make you smell like Raisin Bran.  It is not a gross smell.
