Mustardy Glitter Biz

This is one ugly mani.  I don't know what I was thinking.

3 coats of China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, 3 of NYC Starry Silver Glitter, two of Sally Hansen Bamboo/Green Tea topcoat.

What a hot mess.

More Porrish, Prease.

I've been watching waaaay too much South Park lately.  Before this year I'd only ever seen about 7 episodes.  It might've been 5, I'm not sure.  Now I've watched seasons 1 through 5 in the past two weeks, and I'm almost halfway through season 6.  SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MEEEEE

On a lighter note I went to Walgreens in search of the gorgeous Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure (search for swatches of it, this thing is marvelous) but, alas, Nebraska doesn't have that particular Sally Hansen 'collection' yet.  I picked up a few Sinful polishes, a pint of dulce de leche and a copy of "Run Fatboy Run".

From left to right:  I Love You, Social Ladder, Let's Meet

From left to right:

one coat of Social Ladder over WnW black creme

four coats of Social Ladder (this one is quite sheer, but that's to be expected)

three (?) coats of I Love You

three coats of Let's Meet

I wanted to show off the shimmer in Let's Meet; it's really quite pretty!  Every other time I've been to Walgreen's this color has been out of stock, and I can totally see why.  It's a slightly mustardy yellow with fine golden-pink shimmer.  This would be a sweet pedicure, if I liked feet.

I Love You is a true purple glitter in a sheer purple base.  The photos make it look darker and cooler than it is in person.  If you like purple, most def get this behbeh.

Social Ladder is much prettier than the photo shows.  It's a faint pink/nearly white shimmer polish with lots of tiny pink and green sparklies and a slight opalescent effect.  It's definitely a sheer color but it's buildable for anyone who hates visible nail lines.  I have to keep my nails super short for work, so that's not an issue around these here parts.

Metaphorical Boiling Point

As usual, the colors in the photographs are less vivid than the colors in der real world.

Lid:  TSS Roaring Metaphor

Crease:  AL Boiling Point

Highlight:  random WnW white

Liners:  Bourjois Clubbing black (upper lashline) and UD 24/7 Stash (outer half of lower lashline)

Mascara:  Rimmel Max Volume Flash

Purty New Polish

On Friday I skipped over to Walgreen's to grab a couple of things.  One of them was this prettypants polish that I've seen on a couple of other blogs:

Mint Apple by Sinful.  It's a seafoam/minty green with some slightly gold-toned shimmer.  I don't think it's a dupe for Essie's Mint Candy Apple; it's too dark and shimmery.

I like this color quite a bit.  The first layer is super sheer, but this polish can be a two-coater if you're careful.  I used three coats of the polish followed by two coats of Sally Hansen Green Tea + Bamboo Nail Strengthener.

The other thing I grabbed from Wags was one of the new Wet'n'Wild shadow singles.  I'll update later with some pictures of that little guy.

UPDATE:  THAR SHE BLOWS!

I had to swatch it on my finger because the swatches against the back of my hand/arm weren't visible.

I actually use this product as a setting powder for concealer because it's so close to my skin tone.  It's quite pigmented (see finger swatch above) and blends pretty easily without totally disappearing.  I'd describe the color as a very pale, completely matte peach with a touch of yellow.

The shadow itself is quite soft.  I've used this product three times since Friday and the raised design is already disappearing.  I can't really complain, though, because it was only $1.99 and is pretty good in all other respects.

Leepsteecks

I was bored with eye makeup this week so I thought I'd finally use some of the lip products I have.

Mixed equal amounts of Wet'n'Wild 509A (true red) and 907B (blackberry) and applied using a lipbrush, and on top of this we have Yes to Carrots gloss in Carrot Kiss.

I tried to conceal ze acne, but my skin just wasn't having it today.  BOOO!

Srsly, what's with me lately?

I've been doing a lot of pop-of-color-under-the-eye looks lately; I don't post all of my looks because some mornings I'm just plain lazy, but I"m definitely doing them.

You do not be-leaf me?  I WILL SHOW YOU.

I forgot to do my eyebrows before taking pictures, but whatevah.

Lid/crease:  NYX Iced Mocha all over the place, blended all crazy-like.

Highlight:  theallnaturalface French vanilla

Lower lashline:  AL Endless Sea layered on top of AL Estranged

Other stuffs:  Slapped Bourjious Clubbing liner in black along the outer half of my upper lashline, smooshed it into my lower lashline and blending it.  Used Rimmel Smexy Curves for mascara.

Lame-O

I didn't wear makeup, but I played with some eyeshadows for a little bit.  As curator of this blog, I must warn you that I am not wearing any concealer or powder in these pictures, nor have I plucked my eyebrows in many moons.  If you look closely you can see what I mean.  Sensitive viewers may wish to explore a more family-friendly blog.

Now, onwards to look numbah ONE!

Once again, I used my NYX palette.  Some of the colors are pretty lame; I used the pale pink, medium red and olive shadows.  The red has chunks of glitter that stuck to my cheeks when I tried to apply it, and it disappeared right away once I started blending.  I used the olive to darken the crease a little bit, which worked out okay.  The pink shadow looks like an off-white rather than a true pink.

Lid:  NYX pale pink

Crease:  gimpy NYX red, NYX olive

Highlight:  TSS Drops of Moonstone

Mascara:  two coats of Rimmel Smexy Curves

Look numbah TWO!

I am quite please with this half of my face.

Lid:  TSS Lions and Witches

Crease:  TKB Trading Black Amethyst

Highlight:  TSS Drops of Moonstone

Lower lashline:  UD Rockstar, smudged to create a wing

Mascara:  same as above

Verdict for these looks is right MNYAH.

NUMBAH ONE:  laaaame.  Too light, no definition, nothing special.

NUMBAH TWO:  Success!  I will use this again someday, preferably when watching a Vikings game (or some other team with purple and gold/yellow).

Grurple?

My look from yesterday:  faded chartreuse-lime up top, purple on der bottom.

I love purple and green together; to me, the combination embodies spring.  Some of my very favorite flowers (wild violets and grape irises) will be making their way through the dirt in the next month or so, and I'm quite excited about this.  Spring is the best time of year, hands down.

I used the NYX Beautiful Green Eyes palette again; I've hardly touched that thing since I bought it because the shadows are so soft and crumbly.  Some of the colors are gorgeous, but it's so messy to deal with.

Lid:  NYX palette taupe, AL Big Neon Glitter and Cricket (lightly patted on top of the taupe and blended in)

Crease:  NYX palette grey (AL colors blended into this as well)

Lower lashline:  NYX palette purple, AL Fanclub

Highlight:  NYX palette cream

Mascara:  Rimmel Max Volume Flash

Lips:  Fyrinnae Megahold

These pictures were taken at the end of the day; the mascara didn't smudge at all, even though one of my eyes watered terribly.  There's a tiny bit of flaking, but other than that it held up quite well.  AW YEAH.

In hindsight I probably should have added some blush to this look; I'm a little washed out in the full face picture.  Should I travel back in time and fix this terrible mistake?

Trying out some new mascara

A few weeks ago I purchased a tube of Rimmel Max Volume Flash during a 1/2 off sale at Walgreen's.  I opened it earlier this week (Tuesday, to be precise) and I'm liking it so far.

I have yet to try it for a full day to see how well it wears, but I like the way it looks on.

As far as the appearance goes, I'm pretty pleased with this mascara.  Volume is pretty good and length is okay (my lashes are pretty long naturally, they're just invisible at the tips), but I'm seriously in love with the separation.  I usually have problems with mascaras sticking my eyelashes together (CG LashBlast, Almay Triple Effect, Maybelline Colossal Volum') but this stuff is the opposite.  It makes them look almost feathery.  AWWWWW YEEEEEEAH

Catching Up

I'm really, REALLY bad about posting EOTDs, mostly because it's so flipping hard to get a good picture because of the lighting in my room.

The only colors I can remember are as follows:

#1:  Aromaleigh Agent Orange and UD 24/7 liner Binge

#2:  Silk Naturals Fire with theallnaturalface Earl Grey for the crease

#4:  bright green, brown and olive green from the NYX Beautiful Green Eyes palette, TKB Trading Taurus Orion and Mermaid's Gold on the lid, Spell Creme de Menthe for highlight and some olive green liner

I can't recall anything from the third look.  Eh.

From the UD Friends and Family sale

Over the weekend I received my package from the F&F sale.  The only thing I purchased was one of the 24/7 duos with the Grindhouse sharpener; after the discount and shipping the whole thing cost $25, which is a little bit more than I like to spend on eyeliner pencils BUT I've heard glorious, marvelous stories about that sharpener.  The colors I picked were Binge and Bourbon.

When I first looked at Bourbon, I thought it would be similar to the Corruption pencil that came with the 24/7 super stash dealio.  In real life Corruption (left) is a little darker, more like a blackened brown, and Gold is deeper and warmer--a bronze rather than a true gold.  Bourbon is actually pretty true to life in this picture.

So this little dealio is worth $9 according to the UD website.  I never, ever, EVER thought I would pay that much for a pencil sharpener--seriously, I can get sharpeners for less than a buck when stores come out with school supplies for kidlets.  I technically didn't pay full price for it so I don't know if I've gotten $9 worth of awesome yet, but I'm a little bit in love.  With other sharpeners my eyeliner pencils tend to break in weird spots, or the wood will splinter, or the blade just isn't sharp enough to begin with and just can't tear through my pencil.  This little behbeh is perfect.  If there's another sale I definitely recommend at least conseederingk this little puppeh.

Athena loves her some Ozone

Probably should have loved some eyeliner, too, but it was late and I wasn't going anywhere anyway.  :)

Lid:  TKB Trading Athena

Highlight:  theallnaturalface French Vanilla

Lower lashline:  Aromaleigh Ozone

Mascara:  some Almay stuff that I'm starting to really dislike

IT'S HERE!!

My package from FrescoPhyrra's blog giveaway!  She sent so many awesome things that I don't really know where to begin.  I can't be-LEAF how generous this woman is.

Is it not magnificent?
